Want a super cheap water tank??
Is your school interested in water conservation? Are you looking for a practical way to “walk the talk” in regards to environmental sustainability? Want to reduce your schools water bill?
EERST is trialling a new school based programme throughout the Bay of Plenty named Water4schools.The Water4schools programme encourages water conservation and awareness about water use by working with schools to install water tanks into 12 schools in the Bay of Plenty.
We are looking for 2 schools in each district that want to become a leader in water conservation. There are 12 tanks in total, 3 of each size, available. Water4schools will donate 75% of the tank cost to your school. We have 4 tanks sizes available – 1000litre, 5,500litre, 15,000litre and 30,000litre.
* Please see the attachment for details on the tank prices (you will be pleasantly surprised!)
What we can offer the 12 schools:
- 75% of the tank cost
- Assistance to getting the project completed
- A presentation to the school to help raise awareness
What the schools will need to do:
- Contribute 25% of the tanks cost (download the attachment for details)
- Plumbing supplies (which will be dependant on the tank location, size and plan for use)
- Installation
Please note: There is no need for a building consent to install a water tank, so long as the tank is not raised off the ground. Please see the FAQ’s document for further information.
How to enter:
The Water4schools project is a pilot programme – we are trying to prove the worth of water tanks in schools. To do this we need to install the tanks into schools where the tanks will be used to their potential. The smaller tanks may be good for a garden, while the larger tanks may be able to use for a toilet block – it is up to you but the bigger reduction in mains water consumption, and the increase in water conservation awareness within your school will help us secure funding in the future for the programme to be extended. We want to help the schools, but we also need help from the schools!
Download the additional information: We will choose 12 schools that show the most need and the biggest commitment to using the tank to its potential.
